Rising Sun โ house notices
House notices
This is the notice board. It says what this website holds, what the book behind the bar holds, and how to ask us about either. It is written for this house and it describes only what this house actually does.
It is short because there is not much to describe. We have not borrowed anybody else's policy, there is no table of cookies on this page because there are no cookies to put in one, and nothing below is a recital of law. If something here turns out to be wrong, tell us at the counter and it gets corrected rather than defended.
What this website holds
- Pages
- Eight files of text, two stylesheets' worth of instructions and one script, served as they are. There is nothing behind them: no database, no login, no account to make, no order to place.
- Forms
- None that send anything. The two sheets on the site look like forms because they have boxes to type in, but there is nowhere for what you type to go. See below.
- Cookies
- We set none. Nothing on these pages writes to your browser's storage, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner asking you to.
- Counting
- No analytics, no tag, no pixel, no third-party script of any kind. We do not know how many people read this page and we are not trying to find out.
- The one outside request
- Each page asks your browser to fetch one stylesheet of two typefaces from Google's font service, which is how the lettering looks the way it does. That request goes to Google rather than to us, and it is the only thing on the site that leaves the page. Block it and everything still reads, in whatever serif your browser prefers.
- Maps
- The hill on the finding us page and the floor plan on the front page are drawn by hand in the page itself. No map is embedded from anywhere, so nothing is reporting that you looked at one.
The two sheets with boxes
The layout planner on the front page and the stock turn sheet on the cellar page both do arithmetic in your own browser and print the working on screen. What you type into them is not sent anywhere, not written down and not remembered: shut the page and it is gone, including from us, who never had it.
Both are labelled as guides where they sit, and the label is meant seriously. The planner gives a figure for a conversation about a booking and is not a licensed capacity. The stock sheet is for ordering and is not an account of anything. Neither is a quotation and neither of them binds the house to anything.
What the house writes down
Bookings are taken on paper, in one book, which lives behind the bar on the shelf under the till. A booking is one line. The line has a name, one telephone number to ring, the day and date, the hours wanted, rough numbers with the shape for the floor, and whether the hatch is open or shut. That is all of it, and the list on taking a booking is the same list.
- The telephone number is there so we can ring you in the week before, and so we can ring you if something changes at our end. It is not used for anything else and it is not given to anybody.
- When a date has passed the line is crossed out. Crossed out, not torn out, so that a question the following week can still be answered honestly.
- The book stays behind the bar until it is full, then it goes in the drawer in the office with the ones before it. The office is this building.
- If you asked for your booking in writing, the email we sent sits in the house mailbox at house@dckhospitality.info with everything else that arrives there.
- Nothing about a booking is passed to anybody outside the house, because there is nobody outside the house to pass it to.
Asking to see your line
Come to the counter and ask, or write to house@dckhospitality.info. Whoever is on will find the line and read it to you, and if it is wrong it gets corrected on the spot with the old version crossed out rather than erased. If you want the line gone before the date, that is a cancellation and it is handled the same way as any other: crossed out and marked, and the date goes back to being free.
We cannot read you a line we never had. If you booked a table in the bar by walking in, nothing was written down at all, and there is nothing to look up.

Those are the facts about the company that are on the public record, and they are the only ones published here. Nothing on this site names a person, and the house does not intend to: if you need to reach a particular individual, write to the address above and it will be put in front of them.
The pages on this site describe how the house works. They are not an offer, they do not price anything, and a date is only held when it is written in the book and read back to you.
